Entry Level Civil/Structural Design Engineer
Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting for a, Entry Level Civil/Structural Engineer, for a 9-month contract assignment supporting the ML2 Project for NASA.

This onsite role offers a W2 hourly base rate with time and a half for overtime.  Our client is targeting $60.00/hour pay rate with a 12/30/24 start date for this role. 

Candidates must be local to Houston, TX

U.S. citizenship is required.

Project Overview:

The ML2 Project is the design and construction of a launch platform for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The purpose of ML2, located at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), is to provide a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS), an advanced launch vehicle that will fill America’s need for deep space missions. ML2 includes many different subsystems that must operate and fit within the constraints of the structure and provide physical interface with KSC launch sites’ ground systems. This is a short-term assignment and the expected duration is 5 months

Responsibilities: Originate structural engineering deliverables, such as steel calculations and specifications. Originate structural analysis models using GTSTRUDL or STAAD. Aid in review and coordination of technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines. Aid in preparing technical reports related to specific design issues. Assist in constructability reviews. Education / Experience Minimum Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering (or related) from an accredited university or college and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience. Requires US Citizenship. Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Familiar with structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL, STAAD, or similar. Familiar with the use of Mathcad or similar software. Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills are essential. Experience with CADD applications, such as MicroStation, Tekla, and Navisworks. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Education / Experience Preferred Requirements: Have an Engineering in Training (EIT) Certificate. Proficient in the use of Mathcad and GTSTRUDL or similar structural analysis software. Thorough knowledge of the provisions of AISC Steel Manual & ASCE 7. Knowledge of design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPS). Basic knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and of construction methods for concrete and steel structures. Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.
