Entry Level Electrical Engineer
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Entry Level Electrical Engineer to work in our Electrical Controls and Structural Engineering department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off. INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel development and fabrication through post irradiation analysis. *Responsibilities Include:* You apply engineering principles to electrical systems and electrical power transmission and distribution. Apply electrical engineering theories and principles to explore research opportunities associated with electrical energy generation, storage, transmission, distribution, management, and use. Collaborate with associated engineering professions to ensure the development of integrated systems to ensure safe, reliable delivery of power to the end-user. You will be part of the INL Nuclear Nexus. * Perform detailed analyses on current power transmission and distribution systems to inform design decisions associated with research and development opportunities. * Apply electrical engineering theories and principles to pursue solutions resulting in secure, sustainable, resilient, robust, reliable electrical power systems, including all aspects of energy generation, storage, transmission, distribution, management, and use. * Apply sound engineering principles in the development of electrical power-related designs. * Collaborate with customers in developing system alternatives and analyze alternatives to ensure program requirements are met, including evaluating risks, costs, and other performance measures. * Provide technical reviews of design output (design change packages, installation procedures, and testing procedures) and obtain appropriate approvals for design output. Ensure design modifications meet technical baseline requirements. * Establish and maintain configuration management of assigned system(s) while maintaining existing drawings and databases. * Develop functional and operation requirements, system design descriptions, and test procedures for equipment. * Collaborate with other engineers, planners, operations personnel, and other partners to ensure the proper execution of testing activities. Provide first order data analysis and report test status to appropriate partners. * Evaluate and assess system/equipment performance and history to improve efficiency and reliability. * May be responsible for all electrical engineering aspects of project work, including identifying the equipment, services, space, personnel, work controls., required to accomplish given projects. * May oversee the design and maintenance of assigned high-risk electrical systems operations. * May direct and accomplish the application design, set-up, and basic operation of complex high power and high voltage equipment and systems. *Minimum Requirements:* * Level 1: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or directly related field from an ABET-accredited institution with 0- 2 years of experience. * Level 2: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or directly related field from an ABET-accredited institution with 2- 4 years experience. * Relevant experience commensurate with level * This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. *The ideal candidate will have:* * Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or directly related field from an ABET -accredited institution. * Experience in systems engineering and electrical power systems. * Experience working with high-risk equipment, safety requirements, and procedures. * Familiarity with electrical engineering software applicable to the design and operation of electrical power systems. *Job Information:* * The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($63,528 - $130,284) / Level 2 ($75,804 - $155,496).
