Entry-Level Environmental Analyst

We are looking for an enthusiastic Entry-Level Environmental Analyst to assist with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation and environmental analysis for air quality, airspace, noise, traffic, and utility assessments. The process for implementing the NEPA is a set of procedures that federal agencies use to evaluate the environmental effect of their proposed actions. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental planning and regulatory compliance for airspace, noise, traffic, and utility; coordinating with interdisciplinary teams; and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities:  
•    Technical writing of Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Environmental Assessments (EA) for air space, air quality, noise, traffic and transportation, and utilities for federal clients.
•    Conduct air quality, noise, and traffic analyses using relevant tools and modeling software (e.g., Air Conformity Analysis Model, SoundPLAN, FHWA Traffic Noise Model).
•    Conduct data collection and field studies for noise and traffic assessments.
•    Collaborate with engineering teams to assess the impact of federal actions on utilities, transportation systems, and airspace management.
•    Support senior staff in conducting noise analysis using sound level meters and assist with the interpretation of the results.
•    Contribute to traffic impact studies, collaborating with traffic engineers to assess the effects of project proposals.
•    Analyze utility infrastructure needs for federal actions including beddown projects, ensuring the environmental sustainability of water, power, and other essential systems.
•    Support senior staff in preparing technical reports and documentation, ensuring compliance with NEPA and other relevant environmental regulations.
•    Participate in team meetings, engaging with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
•    Maintain organized project files and track deliverables to ensure deadlines are met.
•    Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:  
•    Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Data Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Planning, or a related field.
•    Excellent analytical, modeling, and data reduction skills. 
•    Computer programming proficiencies (e.g. python, R, etc.)
•    Familiarity with noise analysis or traffic impact studies is a plus.
•    Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•    Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
•    Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively in a team environment.
•    Willingness to travel for fieldwork and site assessments.
Preferred Qualifications:
•    Internship or academic project experience related to data analysis, computer programing for environmental parameters, environmental assessments, noise studies, or traffic analysis.
•    Qualified candidates will be provided an example data set and documentation. They will be asked to perform analysis and document the effects.

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions This work is principally performed in an office environment.  That can be work from a home office of in a Tetra Tech office.  However, there are occasional requirements to make site visits to perform field work or to client sites.  This requires the ability to perform work in an office environment or outdoors while conducting data gathering site visits, participating in on-site meetings, and attending conferences or other training and business development activities off-site.


Language & Communication Skills: Must be fluent in the English language, writing and speaking.
Must possess excellent writing capabilities and have experience generating reports suitable for submittal to clients. Is expected to make verbal presentations including project summaries, technical status, reports, etc.


Mathematical Skills:  Advanced math skills are required for providing environmental analyses for documents applicable to NEPA.


Other Skills:  Fluency with computer software including knowledge of primary Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, TEAMS and Outlook) is required.
