Role description:

Arcadis is currently seeking a Geologist / Environmental Scientist to provide support on environmental remediation projects. This position will be based in Cincinnati or Columbus, OH and will require full-time local and regional travel. 

Initial project locations will be primarily in the northern and central Ohio area, with the opportunity to support additional projects throughout Ohio. This individual must be comfortable in front of clients and other stakeholders, self-motivated, and able to provide solutions to any issues that arise while in the field. Individual will support environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation projects, and work alongside and support mid- to senior-level managers and multiple project teams.

Role accountabilities:

This position encompasses predominantly field work, with a smaller amount of office work (task management, data analysis, report preparation, scope preparation, and client communications).  Estimated field/travel is up to 95% field and 5% office. Travel and field work reduced with career growth. Most work will be in Ohio although some travel will include overnight stays within surrounding states, KY, IN, and WV.

Your core duties will include:

Perform fieldwork which will include contractor/vendor oversight for site characterization, soil sampling, monitoring well installation, groundwater sampling, and excavation/UST removal oversight. Performing remedial system operation and maintenance (O&M), and monitoring. Assist in preparation of O&M reports.  Preparing subcontracts and overseeing the work of subcontractors. Assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) with planning and performing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. Exhibiting ownership of delegated tasks, including responsibility for coordinating and delivering on-schedule and on-budget tasks and submittals. Office work may include task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts.

Arcadis is seeking a candidate with outstanding communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and strong organizational abilities for this dynamic role. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, team-oriented, and adept at both independent and collaborative work. They should be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, handling the physical demands of fieldwork, and displaying flexibility in approaching assignments. The role involves periodic travel (25% or more) and requires proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications 

BS in Geology, Environmental Science, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

1-3 years of previous experience CPR and First Aid Training 40 Hour HAZWOPER

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
