BWXT is currently seeking an Entry Level NDE Inspector to join our growing Quality team in Mt. Vernon, IN!
What we do
Situated on a 100-acre site, our facility has 600,000 square feet of shop area and a 1,000-ton lift capacity from the shop to the river. The Mount Vernon facility is equipped with large CNC machine tools along with sophisticated welding and heat-treating equipment to produce components for naval nuclear reactors, which are used in submarines and aircraft carriers.
What you'll do
Responsibilities include the performance of both:
Liquid Penetrant Inspection (PT)
Magnetic particle Inspection (MT)
Additionally, you will:
Perform all work safely, working within established procedures and uses a questioning attitude to prevent and stop unsafe work conditions. Will set up and perform any/all types of Non-Destructive inspections on any/all products and component parts.
Prepare components as required for MT/PT inspection per procedure, which includes; preparing surfaces as required by buffing to remove paints, scale, weld spatter, and other surface irregularities; uses solvent to remove grease, oil, tape, tape residue, dirt, etc
Interpret manufacturing prints, plans, sketches and printed material descriptions of any complexity.
Make sketches, fills out inspection non-conforming forms.
Perform inspection lay-outs as required.
Verify the completeness of shop and inspection operations and nondestructive tests when required.
Receive instruction from leader, salaried personnel or employee being assisted.
Comply with all safety and plant rules, regulations and practices.
Maintain necessary quality records.
Move material, equipment and products to and from work area by hand or uses material handling equipment, including floor operated cranes.
Work from prints, procedures, code specification booklets, sketches, process sheets, layout templates, written and verbal instructions, etc.
Keep own work area, machinery and equipment clean and orderly. Detects and reports faulty operations and defective material.
Report print errors and/or errors in written and verbal instructions.
Other duties as designated by Supervision and Management.
What we need from you
High School Diploma or GED, plus 1 year of related job experience. Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in a close tolerance manufacturing/fabrication environment. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass Quality Control tests consisting of written and practical examinations, as well as, eye examination(s) within the required timeframes to qualify for the position. The ability to obtain and maintain qualifications for Level II NDT in MT and PT Methods is required. U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship is required for this position.

Pay: $63,200.00 - $63,200.00
The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $63,200.00 and $63,200.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
