We are seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to help with sustainable, local, water and wastewater facility design. Responsibilities Performs structural engineering design under the direction and supervision of experienced structural engineersPerforms basic structural engineering design tasks to provide analysis and detailing for preparation of plans and specificationsWorks with CADD technicians to develop presentation of structural designsPrepares quantity take-offs for use in estimating construction costs for the structural portion of projectsReviews construction submittals for structural itemsResearches technical topics as directed by project structural engineersAssists in improvement of structural design standards, specifications, and typical detailsPlans tasks and activities for effective production and monitors time and completeness against planReviews work for discrepancies or inconsistenciesTracks details of work to discuss and resolveDevelops and improves technical knowledge and skillsMaintains professionalism in relationships with other office and team membersPlans what needs to be communicated and how to present the information effectivelySeeks out company and client technical standards and implements them on projectsConstructively builds and maintains relationships with others on the project design teamTravel required when requestedMakes site visits to observe during construction and operation Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis from an ABET accredited structural engineering program0-4 years experience in structural engineeringBasic and advanced engineering coursework in:Statics, Dynamics, and Mechanics of MaterialsStructural analysis for building structures including manual and computer methodsStructural design and detailing using reinforced concrete, steel, and masonryEngineer-in-Training CertificationBasic knowledge of Structural design codes and standards including:International Building Code (including seismic design and detailing provisions)Design Loads: ASCE 7Concrete: ACI 318Masonry: ACI 530Steel: AISC Steel Construction Manual - 13th Edition; AISC Seismic Design ManualUnderstanding of geotechnical issues and foundation designAbility to present structural design and detailing in construction documentsAbility to read and interpret basic project construction drawingsAbility to use structural analysis and design programs using prismatic frame members and finite elementsCapable of breaking a task into one or more component parts and sequencing those parts effectivelyGeneral awareness of need for practicality and constructability of design solutionsGeneral awareness of the scope, schedule and budget assigned for engineering tasksAbility to selected design approach through completion of analysis and detailingStrong verbal and written communications skills Proficient in MS Word and Excel Pay Range

$72,000 to $80,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
