**Job Summary**
The Environmental Services Worker Lead is responsible for supervising and leading a team of environmental services workers to ensure the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of hospital or facility environments. This role includes overseeing daily cleaning operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, providing training and support to team members, and managing resources to maintain a high standard of cleanliness across all areas of the facility. The Environmental Services Worker Lead plays a critical role in supporting the hospital's efforts to provide a safe, hygienic, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
**Essential Functions**
+ Leads and supervises a team of environmental services workers, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to the required standards.
+ Provides guidance, training, and mentorship to staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
+ Delegates daily cleaning assignments to team members and ensure that all areas are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.
+ Monitors staff performance, providing feedback and coaching as necessary to ensure high-quality service delivery.
+ Ensures that all areas of the facility, including patient rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and hallways, are cleaned and sanitized according to established guidelines and infection control standards.
+ Performs deep cleaning tasks, such as floor care (stripping, waxing, buffing), carpet cleaning, and high-touch surface sanitation as needed.
+ Ensures compliance with all hospital regulations, safety standards, and health department requirements.
+ Maintains knowledge of and adhere to hospital infection control policies, ensuring that cleaning processes minimize the spread of infections.
+ Monitors and manages cleaning supplies and equipment to ensure adequate resources for staff, maintaining inventory and notifying the Environmental Services Manager when supplies need replenishing.
+ Ensures cleaning equipment is properly maintained, coordinating repairs or replacements as necessary to ensure continued efficiency.
+ Participates in departmental meetings to discuss operational improvements, staff performance, and feedback.
+ Contributes to initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the environmental services department.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ H.S. Diploma or GED or equivalent required
+ Courses in hospital housekeeping or institiutional environmental management. preferred
+ 2-4 years of experience in an environmental services or custodial role required
+ 0-1 years in a leadership or supervisory position in a healthcare setting preferred
+ Experience in healthcare cleaning standards, infection control practices, and the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. preferred
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Strong leadership and team management skills.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
+ Knowledge of infection control procedures, hospital cleaning standards, and safety regulations.
+ Ability to train, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to staff.
+ High attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
+ Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
