Environment, Health, and Safety Manager

This position provides comprehensive Environmental, Health & Safety direction and guidance to support Plant Management on all aspects in this area.
Primary Duties
\u2022 Visit the work area frequently to ensure compliance, and discusses safety issues with team. Explains to team that safety excellence is expected and is a requirement of employment. Encourages the team to report incidents, near-misses and unsafe conditions. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.
\u2022 Work closely with plant management and local safety personnel to address Environmental, Health & Safety issues and drive successful implementation of Corporate Health & Safety programs
\u2022 Establish Environmental, Health & Safety objectives and goals for the plant and departments ensuring they are consistent with Corporate Strategies and objectives
\u2022 Conduct on-site Health & Safety audits/ inspections to assure compliance with Corporate Health & Safety policies, programs, procedures and guidelines
\u2022 Ensure plant is complaint with State and Federal Safety Regulations (OSHA/ Cal OSHA, DOT etc.) and formulates recommendations for implementing best practices
\u2022 Evaluate the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment - identify, analyze and control of occupational hazards via risk assessments
\u2022 Proactively manage and deliver employee Health & Safety training for existing and new employees (safety orientation program)
\u2022 Educate Management on Health & Safety best practices
\u2022 Manage, research and recommend safety programs, policies and systems
\u2022 Establish a series of effective Health & Safety KPI's for the plant and provide monthly reports to Management
\u2022 Manage Workers Compensation claims, working on recommendations for claim settlements, medical treatments and strategies (reducing company exposure/costs)
\u2022 Carry out near miss and accident investigation in timely fashion; Identify root cause of accidents and implement corrective actions/measures.
\u2022 Report accidents in timely basis within the Company, Workers Compensation Insurance carrier and regulatory agencies
\u2022 Communicates and celebrates success to maintain and foster Company's commitment towards Health & Safety
\u2022 Maintain membership and continuous development in applicable Health & Safety associations, being informed on new trends, legal requirements and developments
\u2022 Additional duties assigned by management
Job Qualifications
\u2022 5+ years progressive Safety experience in a manufacturing environment
\u2022 Bachelor's degree in Health & Safety or related area, preferred
\u2022 Certified Safety Professional preferred
\u2022 Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
\u2022 Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
\u2022 Computer proficiency - Excel, Power Point and Word
\u2022 Ability to read, write, speak fluently in English
\u2022 Must be able to travel on short notice 75%
