The EHS Manager-ONW NEA Project & Services is a critical role to provide technical EHS guidance and support successful EHS management across the operations sites during the GE work scope such as projects, operations, major upgrades.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Individuals with expertise in a specific area, such as industrial hygiene, injury & illness, ergonomics, electrical safety, process safety management, etc. and/or providing general health & safety advice and support for multiple sites or a region. Note: Individuals located a specific site who support only that site should be classified as “Operational, Fixed Facilities,” even if they have a specific area of expertise unless they also support multiple sites or service operations. May include individuals supporting services, projects and construction.*
Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering stream (like Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical etc.)
A minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in health and safety roles and operations preferably working with cross functional team in a multinational organization set up.
Occupational Health and Safety or related technical degree from an accredited university or college and/or professional qualification in technical field and/or comparable education (ASP/CSP/NEBOSH IGC preferred)
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams across different cultures and geographies.
Strong knowledge of EHS management systems, EHS standards and EHS & Safety regulations.
Willingness and flexibility to travel 50 to 60% of the time, both national and international
Work well with work at height and climbing (No height phobia or Vertigo)
Fluent in Japanese and English in speaking and writing

Technical skills: Expert level in EHS Risk Assessment, root cause Analysis, EHS Audits, Regulatory Compliance and EHS Management System
