Position Title: Environment and Water Operator

The Environment and Water Operator is responsible for the operation of the wastewater treatment facilities, water recycling system and irrigation systems. Operator also is responsible for the operation of environmental systems such as oily water separators and mud removal systems. Operator will also carry out tasks to ensure compliance with our Approval to Operate with Alberta Environment. This includes sampling and testing of water, wastewater, ground water, soil, and general maintenance on equipment. Note, water treatment and waste water treatment systems are not accredited systems.
Accountabilities:
Perform laboratory analysis on all water and wastewater samples in accordance with the company and environmental standards
Analyze and interpret data to ensure water recycling and wastewater treatment plants efficiency and comply with environmental limits
Inspect and maintain equipment such as pumps, irrigation system, transmitters, etc.
Understand and utilize industrial chemicals related to the water recycling plant and wastewater treatment plant
Responsible for general housekeeping and plant site maintenance
Maintain accuracy records and documentation
Maintain necessary supplies through McCain’s ordering system
Willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts (days and nights)
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Prior experience in water treatment and/or wastewater treatment application is preferred
Experience in various laboratory testing methods is preferred
Familiarity with SCADA/PLC systems an asset
Mechanically inclined and able to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Mathematical ability to perform basic and complex calculations
Have good oral and written communication skills
Able to exercise good judgment in making decisions relative to the operation of various systems.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently using effective time management and organizational skills
Must have proven history of safe work habits
Valid driver license
High School Graduate.
Must be willing to successfully complete Confined Space & Rescue, H2S, Forklift and SkidSteer, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and Emergency First Aid
Skills:
Physically capable of performing job duties (including some heavy lifting)
Be able to work in various environments; office, outside (various weather conditions)
Hourly Rate:
$30.55
After Six Months: $31.81
