**Please note: This position will require at least one week a month call rotation and will spend at least two days a week at the Muskogee campus.

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 5:00pm

Job Summary: The Environment of Care Safety Coordinator will facilitate and develop activities with applicable regulations and guidelines for the Joint Commission Environment of Care. Under the direction of the Safety Manager, this role will develop and assist in the implementation of policies, procedures and programs associated with various local, state and federal regulations as promulgated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Department of Homeland Security.


Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety Management or closely related field.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) or Healthcare Environmental Management (HEM), preferred.


Work Experience: Minimum 1 year of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient knowledge in word processing, spreadsheet, and data-based programs. Excellent interpersonal skills that allow for effective, independent communications. Ability to effectively build rapport with a diverse audience. Ability to develop solutions to short-term as well as long-term situations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Audits compliance with all hazardous materials regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, TJC, municipal and state) and hospital policies/procedures by conducting Environmental Tours (Safety walkthroughs). Coordinates the health system emergency plan in accordance with the standards established by the Joint Commission, the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency as directed by the Safety Manager and in conjunction with the Emergency Preparedness, Fire & Construction Safety Manager. Manages/develops the safety management plan in accordance with the Environment of Care Chapter: creating, maintaining, and submitting the required reports to the Entity Environment of Care Committees. Coordinates the environmental tours program and develops/reviews/updates the audit tool on an annual basis. Continuously researches alternative supplier options to ensure supply chain resiliency is maintained. Assists the Safety Manager in preparing periodic performance reviews on an annual basis. Reviews employee injuries and conducts accident investigations, as needed. Monitors and tracks employee health data maintained on the electronic safety event database and reports to the Environment of Care Committee. Conducts safety/industrial hygiene monitoring (noise and air) under the direction of the Safety Manager.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.

Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
