SUMMARY
The primary focus for this position is to help ensure that EJ facilities comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety policies and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Assists in the management, maintenance, and implementation of environmental, health and safety programs, compliance plans, and initiatives.
+ Participates in the investigation of incidents, near misses and property damage incidents. Ensures follow-up is done to minimize future exposure and proper records/documents are maintained.
+ Develops, conducts, coordinates, and tracks environmental and safety training to support company operations.
+ Conducts routine observations, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, as well as corporate environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, and practices.
+ Assists with data collection and analysis needed for various reporting activities. Including but not limited to the following: GHG footprint, Sustainability, Air Emissions, Chemical Regulations.
+ Provides subject matter expertise in EH&S related matters.
+ Assists in environmental permit obtainments.
+ Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impacts the organization.
+ Participates in manufacturing meetings to discuss workplace environmental and safety regulatory concerns and opportunities.
+ Establishes and maintains effective relationships with Managers, Supervisors, and employees.
+ Actively role models all company environmental, health and safety standards.
+ Promotes the culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company. This includes adherence to and promotion of the company safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
+ Experience working with local regulatory agencies is preferred.
+ Familiar with various environmental, health and safety regulations is preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree or equivalent in science or engineering; and 5 or more years of environmental, health and safety-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to be self-motivated and able to accomplish tasks and requirements with minimal oversight.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as environmental, health and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and regulatory permits. Ability to write executive summary reports and external correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, ratios, percentages, rates, rates of change. Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, and statistics.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
