Job Summary

Morton Salt's Silver Springs, NY location has an opening for an intern in the Environmental Health and Safety department starting in June 2025. The right individual will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including working directly with the EHS Manager on various projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform or provide support for EHS compliance-related tasks Thorough understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations as they pertain to plant operation and safety. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Will be alert to safety conditions and will strictly adhere to all safety requirements, quality control guidelines, environmental policies/procedures and other plant policies. Work with joint safety committee to promote safety throughout plant. Assist in the development of training programs, operating manuals, procedures and equipment manuals associated with job classifications. Be familiar with Food & Safety and Quality programs within the plant. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field in progress. Junior or Senior status preferred. Prior manufacturing experience preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Office work and project-based work on the production floor. Frequent high acuity hearing and depth perception. Constant noise 80dB and over. Frequent vibration, dryness, dust, and mechanical hazards.  Varied temperature due to weather conditions. Eye protection, hearing protection, head covering, and foot protection required.

The hourly wage range of $24–$28 is just one component of Morton's total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
