\Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Controllership Manager A new world of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting is emerging. What was once a voluntary report over a relatively low volume of data rooted in ESG strategy, purpose, and select frameworks is now expanding and transforming into high volume disclosure mandated by regulation and subject to assurance. Robust regulations such as the European Union Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (EU CSRD) have created near-term urgency in adapting to this new frontier. As companies balance their purpose driven goals with a new frontier of regulatory reporting they need passionate and skilled advisors to partner with them on the transformation journey, especially to establish and enhance the data, processes, controls, and organizational structures around ESG. Our ESG Controllership team is seeking Managers who are interested in overseeing and delivering ESG-focused controllership engagements to help our clients navigate and ESG regulatory readiness transformation. Our Managers are not only a critical day to day point of contact for our clients but they also serve as a critical part of developing our people and growing our overall ESG Controllership practice. The team The ESG Controllership team works across the global firm to support clients through ESG transformation in compliance, data, process, controls - all enabled by technology. Our SC&E team has been at the forefront of supporting our clients through sustainability transformation and bringing a differentiated point of view stemming from our deep experience in the market. Team members span backgrounds across finance/ accounting, sustainability, technology, and compliance to deliver holistic solutions to our client. Work you'll doAs an ESG Controllership Manager, you will deliver client work in the ESG space while learning from senior leaders, guiding clients, and developing our people while building our internal ESG capabilities. As it relates to client service, the Manager will be expected to collaborate with other ESG professionals to execute on responsibilities including: + Support and shape client pursuits as leadership develops the delivery and resource approach to solving a client need + Manage client engagements focused on compliance with ESG regulations, standards and frameworks, especially for the European Union Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) + Serve as client and Deloitte leadership's day to day point of contact on engagements + Stay abreast of the dynamic global and domestic ESG regulatory landscape including analysis of regulations, applicability to clients, and our go to market point of views + Analyze client's readiness to comply with ESG regulations and help them create the appropriate processes to close disclosure gaps, develop future processes and controls, and assess/design/ and implement data governance and technology + Stay up to date on latest ESG regulatory changes and interpretations to inform client solutions and pivot teams, especially the EU CSRD and related interpertations + Advise on effective technology solutions and lead technology implementation of ESG reporting tools, such as Workiva, SAP and/or Blackline + Lead topical work in the environmental space, such as walkthroughs with operation and technology leads to understand the current state of emissions reporting and develop future state processes for client operations + Provide insights and expertise on internal control assessment, design and implementation to enhance the client's ESG reporting processes + Lead diverse teams, mentor junior colleagues and serve as a thought leader + Maintain engagement economics and deliver quality client experience + Serve as an internal point of contact for other peers and teams looking to expand their awareness of ESG solutions and client success stories. Qualifications + 5-8 years of technical or advisory-related experience in sustainability, entity and enterprise accounting or financial planning and analysis and/or cost accounting + Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Risk Management, Environmental Sciences, sustainability, Economics or related field + CPA, CIA, CFA, CA, CCA, CMA, CAIA or FRM certification + Knowledge of the EU CSRD and experience assessing and implementing its requirements + Knowledge of the EU Taxonomy regulation + Experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis to support decision-making and successfully and effectively communicating your findings to a broad spectrum of stakeholders + Highly motivated, ambitious, and a quick learner given this evolving field + Experience managing and working collaboratively on teams to develop and deliver innovative solutions to complex problems + Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and SEC rules and regulations + Proficiency in MS Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint + Proven ability to communicate ideas and insights in person, virtually, and in writing, succinctly and with impact, understanding what is relevant vs. what is "noise" to the audience + Proficient Microsoft Office skills, in particular ability to communicate clear and crisp messages to executives via PowerPoint + Open to travel up to 30%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve and internal training opportunities; willingness to co-locate with Deloitte teams at your local Deloitte office + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future Preferred: + Knowledge of and experience with underlying environmental ESG domain areas e.g. energy or green house gas emissions estimation, life cycle assessments and waste, or water + Experience performing ESG materiality or prioritization assessments and/or organization risk assessments + Deep technical knowledge of the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive + Experience with ESG solutions (e.g., Workiva and/or Workiva's ESG module, Persefoni, etc.) + Master's degree in Business, Environmental Sciences, Systems or Accounting + Capabilities in operational and financial internal controls, including work related to compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Information for applicants with a need for accommodation: https://www2.deloitte.com/us/en/pages/careers/articles/join-deloitte-assistance-for-disabled-applicants.html You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
