Hexcel is currently seeking a U.S. Environmental Affairs Manager for our Salt Lake City, UT; Pottsville, PA; Amesbury, MA; Casa Grande, AZ; or Decatur, AL locations.
This exciting, highly visible, and influential role is a key member of the Corporate Environmental Leadership Team with accountability to lead and ensure environmental compliance across our U.S. facilities. The role will work with U.S. sites leadership teams and EHS professionals to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations; corporate policies, standards, and goals; ISO 14001 standards; and local procedures and performance requirements in the U.S. The role will collaborate with Corporate EHS Leadership and U.S. sites to prevent impacts to the environment, support sustainability initiatives, and support Hexcel’s continued cultural maturity for proactively creating a zero-non-conformance mindset.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
Supporting the strategic corporate environmental program by maturing our regional and global EHS culture, prioritizing operational compliance and environmental reporting obligations, and driving continuous improvement in Hexcel’s systems and procedures.Assist U.S. sites in the development of environmental permitting and compliance strategies, and support U.S. site EHS leaders in preparation of environmental permit applications and plans to support Hexcel's growing operations, seeking, and leveraging opportunities and creating competitive advantages, where applicable.Ensure air emissions, hazardous waste volumes, wastewater constituent loads and other environmental performances and metrics are effectively managed by site leadership and EHS professionals.Support Corporate compliance and ISO 14001 management system auditing.Provide ad hoc support for Hexcel's legacy environmental sites.Continually improve practices and systems, and drive collaboration and best practice sharing throughout the organization by leading continuous improvement activities including, compliance best practices sharing and targeting the reduction and optimization of energy consumption, GHG emissions, water usage and waste minimization.Support Hexcel’s various sustainability activities by implementing regional sustainability initiatives and supporting various required (e.g., SEC) and voluntary reporting/disclosures (e.g., NGOs).Prepare and deliver presentations and communications to inform key internal and external stakeholders about Hexcel's environmental permitting, compliance status, performance, and actions, and sustainability, as necessary.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or equivalent technical degree is required, with a master's degree and Professional Engineer’s license or environmental certification preferred.8+ years of experience in multiple aspects of environmental compliance (e.g., air, water, waste) assurance and experience leading/supporting multiple sites is preferred. Title V experience and large quantity generator experience is preferred. 3+ years of experience in the chemical or aerospace industries is preferred.At least 5 years of experience preparing and submitting environmental permit applications and plans.Proven record of regulatory agency interactions and the ability to manage multiple, complex technical projects.Experience compiling, reviewing, analyzing, and managing environmental sustainability data (e.g., Scopes 1, 2, 3 emissions; waste; water consumption).Strategic thinker, innovative problem solver, able to lead and influence others in support of key environmental management system goals and organizational priorities. Self starter.Team player who is self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively with others to accomplish common goals in a matrixed; experience with a multinational company preferred.The ability to travel 25-30% of the time, with no travel limitations throughout Hexcel’s U.S. operating footprint.US citizenship required.This position is restricted to U.S. citizens due to U.S. government contract regulations that require the employment of only persons who are U.S. citizens.
