Responsibilities

 

The Polymers Manufacturing Department (PMD) Environmental Coordinator (EC) coordinates all aspects of the Department environmental program to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations and Eastman Corporate standards.  It is a hands-on role in the plant. Team Managers and Department Staff are customers of the EC. The EC will make themself available to assist with environmental issues and consult with all members of PMD as needed.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

Conduct required environmental inspections and reports for regulatory compliance, including RCRA, TITLE V, MON, SPCC, LDAR, PET MACT, NSPS, etc. Issue reports of the monitoring and findings. Prepare and assemble information for semi-annual report and for permit modifications. Maintain, manage and organize environmental records for environmental compliance. Work with operations and maintenance on Delay of Repair (DOR) log and Title V Event Log entries. Review environmental drawings and work with Engineering to ensure environmental drawings are correct. Drive operational discipline in preventing environmental incidents. Work with Operations and Maintenance to implement best practices.  Interface with Engineering, Environmental Affairs (EA) and Engineering to drive environmental projects. Conduct department incident investigations reviews using Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and drive action items to completion. Assist Staff Engineers and operations on resolving accidental reporting. Assist operations in the event of accidental discharge incident, Review and approve Management of Change forms (MOC). Assess each MOC to determine impact on environment, permits and regulations.  Work with MOC originator and resources to overcome any implementation hurdles. Work with the area training coordinators, staff engineers and building supervisors to develop and maintain environmental procedures.  Ensure that all environmental training is administered in a timely fashion for department team members as needed.  Ensure that waste streams, workplace chemical lists (WCL) and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are up to date and correct Attend Division and Department environmental meetings and serve on plant wide teams when applicable.  Participate and coordinate required environmental audits. Serve as the PMD environmental steward, responsible for driving key initiatives identified annually during the annual business planning process Maintain and update the PMD Environmental SharePoint site and will keep the site well organized for easy reference of all Environmental information by operators and staff

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering is required Good computer skills and familiar with the EMIS, Microsoft Office (including Excel & PowerPoint). Must be able to learn new computer software packages to be able to access plant wide information. Experience with SharePoint and SAP a plus.  High degree of initiative to identify environmental needs and find solutions to these needs. Ability to work independently and on a team Willing to work overtime when needed Organization skills to efficiently manage and distribute information Presentation skills to make presentations on incident investigations, project status reports and business plan updates. The EC should be comfortable making presentations to operators, staff, and management. Writing skills and the ability to update and write procedures Good project management skills Work may involve climbing, working in congested areas and working around chemical process equipment Must have a valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles
