Environmental Engineer

Currently, we are seeking a motivated, career and team-oriented Environmental Engineer in support of The Department of Defense (DoD).This position is remote with possible travel to Fort Belvoir, VA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Ensure that all hazardous materials management practices comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including EPA, OSHA, and DOT standardsManage the preparation and submission of environmental permits and reports, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with regulatory requirementsConduct assessments to identify potential environmental risks associated with hazardous materials and develop strategies to mitigate these risksDevelop and maintain contingency plans for environmental emergencies involving hazardous materials, including spill response and remediationDesign and implement engineering controls and systems to manage, contain, and treat hazardous materials safely and effectivelyOversee environmental monitoring and testing programs to ensure that hazardous materials handling practices do not result in environmental contaminationDevelop and implement environmental strategies and policies related to hazardous materials managementEstablish and promote best practices for hazardous materials handling, storage, and disposal to minimize environmental impactLead and manage environmental engineering projects related to hazardous materials, ensuring they are executed efficiently, within scope, and in compliance with regulationsCoordinate with other departments and external contractors to ensure that project goals are met and that resources are allocated effectivelyDevelop and deliver training programs for staff on environmental regulations, hazardous materials management, and safety proceduresProvide technical guidance and support to team members and other departments regarding environmental aspects of hazardous materialsAnalyze environmental data related to hazardous materials to identify trends and areas for improvementPrepare detailed reports on environmental performance, incidents, and compliance status for internal stakeholders and regulatory agenciesWork closely with program managers, safety officers, and other stakeholders to integrate environmental considerations into overall hazardous materials managementLiaise with regulatory agencies, environmental groups, and the public as needed to address environmental concerns and ensure transparencyRegularly evaluate environmental processes and procedures related to hazardous materials to identify opportunities for improvement

Basic Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in HAZMAT program management or other relevant experience.expertise in project management, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating environmental projects effectivelyBachelor’s degree in environmental science, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related fieldProficient in conducting HAZMAT Assessment Studies, involving identification, evaluation, and mitigation of hazardous materials risksSkilled in developing comprehensive reports with detailed recommendations to enhance safety measures, HAZMAT management, and regulatory compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in large-scale, multi-phase programs or projects, preferably with the DoD or other federal agenciesActive project management certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or similarActive safety certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similarExperience in a DoD or government environment is highly advantageousMaster’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field

Security Clearance Requirements:

US citizenship with active Secret clearance

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printerThe person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

The projected compensation range for this position is $130,500-$217,500. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
