Environmental Manager
We currently seek a high-caliber Environmental Manager for a direct hire basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals in Carlsbad, California.
This Opportunity
Our client is searching for an Early Career Environmental Engineer that will be based at the Carlsbad Desalination Plant (CDP) in Carlsbad, CA in North County San Diego.
Your Role
· Provide technical assistance in overseeing the day-to-day operations of CDP by ensuring the O&M contractor satisfies contractual requirements and identifying opportunities for optimizing operational efficiency, including improvements to water treatment process, maintenance practices, recordkeeping, and other opportunities
· Perform weekly site audits and generate accurate and concise reports documenting findings and ensure that deficiencies are properly addressed with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable contractual, regulatory and industry standards.
· Review operational, maintenance, and regulatory reports to ensure plant performance, compliance, and efficiency.
· Participate in engineering analysis for future modifications to the project.
· Assist the Director of Operations and Environmental Manager in ensuring effective communication and relations with stakeholders.
· Provide technical support and participate in meetings with CDP’s O&M contractor, client, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
· Ensure projects are performed safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
· Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
· Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Civil or Chemical Engineering or related field
· 2 to 5 years of experience working in the water treatment, water resources, or environmental compliance field.
· Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
· Familiarity with and application of relevant industry standards, environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
· Effective self-motivation with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
· Effective and professional communication skills when interacting with others, both to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
· Skills in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
· Strong proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools
· Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
· Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from data collation, testing results, and statistical analyses.
· Preferred: EIT or PE, OSHA HAZWOPER 40 certification, Water Treatment Operator Certification (T1 or above)
