We have an opening for an Environmental Engineer to work in partnership with leadership and employees at our Stevenson Mill in Stevenson, Alabama. Stevenson is centrally located between Chattanooga, Tennessee and Huntsville, Alabama. This is a unionized facility with approximately 400 employees.
Experience ownership firsthand as you ensure the compliance and performance management of one or more environmental media areas (air, water, solid/hazardous waste, hazardous substances) at a world class integrated corrugated medium paper production facility.

Serve as a technical expert for the mill’s business units (pulp, power, woodyard, and paper)Primary contact with regulatory agencies and other outside stakeholder groupsMaintains complex environmental permitting and regulatory trackingResolves high profile environmental issuesKnowledgeable of emerging state and local environmental regulationsProvides support during development of regulatory compliance programsDrives continuous improvement opportunities including system developmentPromotes employee engagement to achieve desired resultsAbility to explain complex processes and regulatory requirements in layman’s termsSupports operations in reviewing environmental controls systemsAbility to maintain records in “audit ready” conditionEstablish, write, and communicate programs and policies to comply with regulatory programsConduct training to both hourly and salaried personnelParticipate in the on-call weekend duty rotationAbility to implement programs and prepare a variety of regulatory reports which include data collection, calculations, accurate recordkeeping, and an adherence to regulatory guidelines with minimal supervision in the following areas:Mill Title V air program including Boiler MACT, RICE MACT, NSPS, NOx CSAPR, CEMS, stack testing, etc.Leak detection and repair requirements for pulping process gases and condensateQuality Control/Quality Assurance Plan for the Continuous Emissions Monitors (CEMS)Data Acquisition and Handling Systems (DAHS) through a Pi interfaceOzone-Depleting Substance Program (ODS)Asbestos ProgramGreenhouse Gas (GHG) MonitoringAir permit applicationsToxics Release InventoryRadiation Safety ProgramAssist with Mill environmental programs in other areas such as: hazardous/universal/solid waste, reuse/recycling, wastewater discharge program, stormwater runoff, solid waste, tanks, EPCRA, SARA (311, 312, 313), CERCLA, etc.
