Position Overview
Want to spend your summer in the great outdoors, learning all about the diverse services that Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI), a Davey company, offers? Each summer, we host a class of talented individuals pursuing degrees in the engineering, landscape architecture, environmental, and science fields, and we are currently seeking great interns to join our Louisville, KY team for summer 2025.
Interns will have the opportunity to work hands-on with WSSI’s staff and learn from their expertise in the environmental consulting industry. Interns will rotate through different phases of projects, including site assessments, restoration design, construction oversight, and monitoring. Field duties may include vegetation identification and monitoring, ecological inventories, time series data collection including ground and surface water monitoring, use of technology for environmental mapping and site surveys. Office duties will depend on the intern’s discipline. Office work will introduce software and methods used in environmental consulting.
Not only will you gain hands-on experience with our field staff, interns will also participate in educational sessions to learn about all of WSSI’s services across our various offices and disciplines. Interns will also receive in-house training courses on topics including, for example, plant identification, land navigation, wetland delineation, use of ArcGIS Pro, and Autodesk (Autocad, Civil3D) software for those pursuing restoration design-oriented degrees.
Applicants should be interested in and understand wetland ecology and possess a strong work ethic with the desire to gain experience in different aspects of environmental consulting. This internship involves a large amount of outdoor work with rigorous physical labor and may occasionally involve working long hours.
At least two years of undergraduate studies in a related field is required.
