Our team is committed to growing the North American Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL) book of business in 2025 with a focus on Site Pollution, Contractors Pollution and Excess follow form policies. You will be part of a collaborative team of Underwriters, Legal, Risk Consultant, Claims and Operations staff working together to ensure that EIL meets its objectives and continues to be recognized as a world-class team.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Environmental Practice Leader of North America, you will join the team as an Environmental Executive Underwriter and will be directly involved in growing our Northeast EIL book through marketing, sound underwriting and cross-collaboration with other Allianz Commercial (AzC) Lines of Business. As a mentor to more junior underwriters, you’ll help your teammates develop their underwriting skills, strengthen their broker relationships and together you’ll help EIL meet its growth goals.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
• Underwriting and servicing new and renewal environmental accounts including negotiating price, terms and conditions with our broker partners while proactively managing capacity, risk appetite and profitability.
• Driving marketing initiatives and building strong, collaborative relationships with our brokers by providing excellent customer service, technical knowledge and support.
• Developing a pipeline of new business opportunities through active marketing, cross-sell initiatives, attending industry events and mining broker pipeline reports.
• Executing on complicated global insurance programs by partnering with AzC colleagues across the globe.
• Developing creative solutions to our client’s problems by collaborating with our Risk Consultants, Product Development and Claims.
• Drive and participate in key projects around the business which impact EIL’s results.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
• 7 years’ experience in environmental underwriting (experience with environmental consulting a plus);
• Ability to build and foster relationships internally across the organization and externally with our broker partners;
• Outstanding technical skills with ability to analyze complex data / information from multiple sources;
• Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally;
• Strong thought leadership skills with the ability to persuade and motivate others to act;
• Strong solution orientation, with an entrepreneurial spirit; and
• Degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry or Biology.
