About you and this role:
The Toxicology & Environmental Research & Consulting (TERC) group of Dow (Midland, MI) is looking for a candidate with experience and training in environmental toxicology, multimedia modeling, or a related emphasis. The candidate will work closely with TERC scientists in developing and/or applying state-of-the-art computational approaches for characterizing environmental fate and transport, with a focus on silicon-based chemistry. This unique position will present the right candidate with an opportunity to grow and excel in the exciting field of environmental multimedia modeling and predictive environmental science.
This is an office-based position, and the successful candidate is expected to be actively involved in research projects in evaluating compounds using in silico (computer-based) approaches and to apply best-practices and/or innovative approaches for characterization of chemicals in the environment. Activities include database curation, multimedia model building, evaluation of publicly available models, interpretation of results, and collaboration with other Dow environmental scientists. The candidate is expected to present research findings at internal and external workshops/meetings and publish in prestigious peer-reviewed journals.
Responsibilities:
Provides science leadership and environmental science discipline-specific expertise to construct and optimize tools for modeling environmental fate and transport.Works with Dow cheminformatic and environmental experts along with other Dow team members for application of models.Leads specific projects and leverages broader expertise to deliver high quality scientific results that are aligned with business and regulatory needs.Develops and implements technical solutions through hands-on problem solving for investigative research.Provides clear, concise communication both internally and externally including peer-reviewed publications and presentations at scientific conferences.Mandatory compliance with work group, facility, and site EH&S policies.Qualifications:
Ph.D. in environmental science, engineering or related field is required.A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.Familiarity of principles of environmental fate & transport, computational modeling, and chemical structure assessment.A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.Preferred Skills:
