Environmental Field Technician
Job Title: Environmental Field TechnicianJob Description

Join our team as an Environmental Field Technician where you will perform crucial sampling and monitoring tasks, including soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, air, geophysical, landfill gas, and leachate assessments. You will be responsible for preparing samples, maintaining detailed field logs, and reporting on field conditions and test results. This role will also require you to operate and maintain various field instruments and equipment, as well as assist project managers with data analysis and documentation.

ResponsibilitiesConduct sampling and monitoring of environmental elements such as soil, water, and air.Prepare daily field logs with data collected, observations, and recommended actions.Report field conditions and test results to project managers and clients.Assist with data reduction, analysis, and documentation.Operate and maintain field instruments and equipment.Perform maintenance, repairs, and construction of underground storage tanks.Assist with office duties including materials testing and data management.Prepare technical memos and reports.Manage technical equipment and provide support to staff.Track and document test results.Work outdoors in all weather conditions and communicate effectively.Essential SkillsExperience in inspection, soil sampling, and environmental fieldwork.Knowledge in geology, water sampling, and environmental science.Ability to read maps and construction-related drawings.Self-motivated with problem-solving skills.0-3 years of relevant experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred in Geology, Environmental Science, Soil Science, Civil Technology, or Mechanical.Experience with mechanical systems and construction is preferred.Internship experience or field exposure in soil sampling and air monitoring is advantageous.Completion or willingness to complete a 40-hour HAZWOPER training.Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.Work Environment

This position supports work in Dane County with a standard 40-45 hour work week, primarily operating between 8 AM and 5 PM. Occasionally, projects may require up to 12-hour days, rare overnight stays, or weekend work. The role involves commuting to sites using a company vehicle, which is picked up and returned to the office daily. Work involves both office and field environments, with a focus on supporting landfill projects. The company offers a collaborative, employee-owned culture with opportunities for remote work on non-site days.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
