Environmental Field Technician
Responsibilities:Sample Collection: Collect environmental samples, including soil, water, air, and biological specimens, according to established protocols. Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of samples.Field Surveys: Conduct field surveys and assessments to gather data on environmental conditions. Use various tools and equipment, such as GPS, water quality meters, and soil sampling devices.Data Recording: Accurately record field data and observations. Ensure all data is complete, accurate, and properly documented.Laboratory Analysis: Prepare and analyze environmental samples in the laboratory. Follow standardized procedures and maintain meticulous records of analysis results.Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate field and laboratory equipment. Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and properly stored.Regulatory Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards. Conduct monitoring and reporting activities to meet regulatory requirements.Reporting: Prepare detailed reports summarizing fieldwork, sample analysis, and survey results. Present findings to project managers and stakeholders.Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety guidelines and protocols during fieldwork and laboratory activities. Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.Project Support: Support environmental projects by providing technical assistance, conducting research, and participating in project planning and implementation.Communication: Communicate effectively with team members, project managers, and external stakeholders. Provide updates on project progress and any issues encountered in the field.Qualifications:Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.Previous experience in environmental fieldwork or laboratory analysis is preferred.Strong understanding of environmental sampling techniques and protocols.Proficiency in using field and laboratory equipment.Excellent data collection, documentation, and reporting skills.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Physical ability to conduct fieldwork, including lifting equipment and working in various outdoor conditions.Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites.Relevant certifications (e.g., HAZWOPER, OSHA) are a plus.
