Position Summary:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist 3 is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing workplace health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA, EPA, and local regulations within a sheet metal manufacturing facility. As the facility’s safety leader, this role will drive a culture of safety, prevent injuries, and minimize environmental impact. The EHS Specialist 3 will report directly to the Director of Operations and collaborate with employees, supervisors, and regulatory agencies to ensure continuous improvement in workplace safety and compliance.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training to ensure regulatory compliance.Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions as needed.Maintain and oversee SDS, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE programs, and machine guarding compliance.Ensure safe operations across entire facility including welding, machining, forming, maintenance, and shipping/receiving.Monitor airborne contaminants, noise exposure, hazardous material handling, and ergonomic risks to enhance workplace safety.Oversee hazardous waste disposal, air quality compliance, stormwater pollution prevention, chemical storage, spill response, and recycling programs.Lead and conduct new hire safety orientations, ongoing safety training, emergency drills, and behavior-based safety initiatives.Collaborate with supervisors and employees to reinforce safe work practices and regulatory compliance.Maintain and update the emergency action plan, conduct fire drills, first aid training, and ensure proper safety equipment and emergency procedures are in place.Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies (Cal/OSHA, EPA, AQMD, etc.) during inspections and compliance reporting.Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of Cal/OSHA, EPA, and environmental compliance regulations.Experience with risk assessment, incident investigations, and corrective actions.Ability to develop and lead safety training programs.Strong communication and leadership skills to influence safety culture.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Required Experience:
5+ years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety within a manufacturing or industrial setting.Experience in sheet metal manufacturing, welding, machining, or related processes preferred.Proven track record of reducing workplace injuries and implementing safety programs.Experience working with regulatory agencies (Cal/OSHA, EPA, AQMD, etc.).Familiarity with ISO 45001 or similar safety management systems is a plus.Level of Education:
