General Summary:
This role oversees Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) management activities across the EMEA region and reports directly to the Global EHS Head, located in San Diego, California, USA. As an integral part of the Global EHS Team, this role is tasked with developing, supporting, and managing the implementation of Qualcomm's EHS management system processes at all owned and leased facilities housing electronic R&D laboratories and administrative offices in the EMEA region. This position will also act as a change agent for Qualcomm, enhancing line management and employee awareness, engagement, and accountability as the EHS program evolves. The ability to think with an enterprise-wide mindset balanced with the ability to consider best solution/outcomes will be crucial in our dynamic and ambiguous environment.
The EHS Manager will be the lead subject matter expert on technical and regulatory aspects, EHS management systems, program standards, and best practices within the organization, including areas related to Sustainability/ESG. Strong project management and prioritization skills are required, along with the ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure site-level compliance and effective risk management. The position is based in Cambridge, UK or Cork, Ireland.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a suitable and sufficient EHS Management System that achieves overall EHS compliance with local and national legislation and company standardsCoordinate with Corporate EHS to create the EMEA EHS roadmap, set goals and targets that align with strategic initiativesSupport, assist and advise the site leadership in formulating policies, program, and processes to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in placeSupport and guide the site-appointed competent person(s) responsible for health and safety in their roleOrganize, support, and direct site-specific risk assessments to identify the potential hazards in the workplaceBuild EMEA EHS capability by coordinating and aligning regional resources and key stakeholders for program implementation and best practice sharingCollaborate with line management to identify, arrange, and conduct EHS trainingSupport ESG initiatives and projects to meet company net-zero goals and disclosure requirementsManage and direct sites in achieving EHS targets and objectivesReview incidents, including near-misses, releases, and losses, and accidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective and preventative action plansEvaluate EHS risks and challenges for new projects and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategiesSupport site / country-level health and safety committeesDrive various EHS initiatives to make each site a safer workplacePlan and direct response to emergency situations dealing with the environment, employees, or the communityPerform periodic EHS inspections and assure accurate and complete EHS reporting of metricsIT Core Competencies

• Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.OR
Associate's degree and 9+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and 11+ years of Environment Health & Safety related work experience.
*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
Additional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health, safety or scientific or related engineering field5-8 years’ experience in EHS, with demonstrated experience in managing EHS programs in a company with global operations3+ years’ experience in ISO14001, ISO45001 or similar accredited EHS management systemsProficiency in local EMEA languagesKnowledge and awareness of different European countries EHS laws and regulations and of most widely used international standardsExperience prioritizing and managing multiple and technical assignments concurrentlyAnalytical, problem-solver, and project management experienceExperience establishing and maintaining cross-functional working relationshipsBroad communication skills and demonstrated experience in understanding of business value driversAbility to travel, 25-30%, including internationalPreferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in environmental, health, safety or scientific or related engineering fieldCertification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent EHS-related certification/certificatePhysical Requirements
