The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will provide the overall direction towards a zero-injury culture established within our production facility in San Antonio, TX. The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will create, develop, implement and maintain safety policies, programs and requirements for the facility that will achieve industry leading safety compliance and performance. The San Antonio factory is a 1M sq. ft production facility producing class 6 – 8 and EV commercial trucks. Support a multi-shift facility of ~ 1,000 employees and a primary shift (5:30AM – 4:00PM) and recovery days as needed.
Responsibilities Responsible for achieving and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations, company policies and other requirements in a cost-effective mannerWork cross functionally with Maintenance and Engineering to ensure safety and ergonomic compliance, lead safety meetings, safety governance committee, and establish safety goals and objectives for the site working closely with the Plant Director and staff to ensure optimum performance while maintaining regulatory complianceProvide leadership to a small team including Safety Specialist and EnvironmentalDrive a culture of safety first, influence, teach and mentor safety across the facilityConduct employee training, participate in new hire onboardingCo-lead Emergency Response Team with Facilities, partner with site fire, security and medical teamsLead Emergency Action Plan, run drills on scheduled basisAssist with light/restricted duty assignmentsConduct risk assessments and make recommendationsDevelopment and management of all employee safety training at the manufacturing facilityConduct and lead accident investigations, conducting employee (hourly) interviews, document/report findings and corrective actions as necessaryReview plans and specifications for installation of new machinery or equipment to ensure all safety requirements have been metAssist in the development of technical documents including Safety proceduresMaintain a thorough and up-to-date working knowledge of federal and state environmental and safety regulatory requirements affecting company operationsOversee preparation of all regularly scheduled reports required by local, state, and federal regulatory agenciesEnsure site permits and regulatory documentation are kept current. All documentation shall be maintained in a manner that is readily available and shall include training to site management on content and location to ensure document availability during external audits.Participate, oversee and provide guidance in all safety incidents, spills, releases, near miss and providing corrective guidance, follow up, reporting, documentation and closureDrive and execute Root Cause Analysis support as required for all investigationsReport metrics and safety performance on a regular basisProvide overall guidance for the administration of the local EH&S training function, which is to include local as well as corporate training requirements.Responsible for safety training delivery content, methods and records.Travel < 10%, occasional travel to other International plants and conferencesMust be able to support production hours and recovery days as needed Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree
