**Environmental Health and Safety Specialist** Quality Assurance Ashtabula, OH, US Pay Rate Low: 75000 | Pay Rate High: 85000 + Added - 08/07/2025 Apply for Job + **Hours:** 1 st shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm EST + **Salary:** $70-85K (FLSA status – Exempt) **Applicants should have at least three (3) out of five (5) of these qualifications:** + Experience with ISO 9001/14001 audits (spearheading and/or completing) + Experience with CARs and root-cause analysis. + Experience with Process Safety Management. + Conducting risk assessments and audits of workplace practices and environmental compliance **_Position is 70% Environmental Health related tasks, with only 30% Safety related tasks._** **Key duties include but not limited to the following:** + Work with management and employees to promote a strong safety culture and address concerns. + Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs and initiatives that align with the organization's goals and regulatory requirements. + Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations. Keep abreast of changes in regulations and assess their impact on company operations. + Design and conduct EHS training programs for employees at all levels to promote a strong safety culture. Ensure all employees are aware of EHS policies and procedures. + Lead investigations of workplace incidents, near misses, and environmental incidents. Analyze findings to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. + Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of workplace practices and environmentalcompliance. Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate controls. + Oversee waste management and environmental compliance activities, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to integrate safety practices into daily operations and projects. + Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records related to EHS activities, including inspections, audits, and compliance reports. + Stay informed of industry best practices, trends, and technologies related to environmental health and safety. Recommend and implement improvements based on findings. + Communicate with cross-functional teams to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvement. + Observe all safety and ISO 9001/14001 Requirements. **Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:** + Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field. + At least three years of experience in environmental health and safety roles in an industrial manufacturing environment. + Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT). + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. + Proficiency in MS Office Suite and EHS management software. + Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. + Commitment to promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and environmental sustainability. + Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) is a plus. + Relevant certifications a plus (CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE). + **_Must pass Department of Homeland Security background check, pre-placement physical and pre-employment drug-screen._** This job description is a complete list of all desired skills, but not all are required.
