About the job:
Kent is looking for an Environmental Impact Assessment Lead to be based in the UK
This is an exciting opportunity to join the new Environmental Team in Kent and be a pivotal part of the growth and development of that team. EIA Lead role will be demanding and varied with involvement in client development and bidding as well as technical delivery and leadership of the growing team of environmental specialists. The ideal candidate will have a background in delivering EIAs in the UK energy sector (low carbon, offshore wind, or oil and gas) and a strong desire to build and grow their own team. The role will report directly into the Market Director Environment. Support and guidance will be provided in growing, developing and managing teams as necessary.
Skills & Responsibilities:
· Overall lead for EIA delivery team and all associated specialist disciplines.
· Technical lead for project delivery. Technical excellence is key to our success, you would be responsible for the quality of all EIAs undertaken in the UK business.
· Conducting related consultancy scopes (in particular, experience in DCOs, TCPAs and associated applications) for low carbon, offshore wind, or oil and gas sectors.
· Provision of strategic environmental guidance and advice to clients.
· Technical report authorship, checking, reviewing and approval.
· Leading junior specialists on projects and providing technical guidance and mentoring support.
· Preparation of cost estimates and bids for new work scopes.
· Project management to ensure studies and projects are delivered in compliance with agreed scope, budgets and schedules.
· Direct engagement with clients and developing strong relationships with existing and future clients.
· Recruitment of new team members to match market growth.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
· Extensive experience delivering EIAs and related assessments
· Degree(s) in a relevant subject matter
· Chartership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CEnv)
· Experience working in the UK Energy industry.
· Experience leading work scopes to meet delivery/cost targets without compromising quality.
· Familiar with relevant legislation and industry standards and able to apply this knowledge and advise clients in relation to these, e.g. through the development of Consenting Strategies.
· Ability to prepare technical reports to a high standard and check the work of others.
· Experience in a client-facing role, showing an understanding of commercial challenges relevant to a consultancy business, confident in selling our services and winning work.
· Experience of leading or contributing to successful bids and proposals.
· Proactive in the identification of opportunities to grow the business.
· Line and team management experience preferrable.
Communication:
· Excellent written and verbal communication.
· Comfortable explaining environmental requirements to senior management.
· Ability to present at conferences is desirable (support can be provided).
· Excellent bid authoring knowledge and skills.
· Ability to lead teams and establish communication ‘drum beats’ to convey key messages in a timely manner.
