Position Summary

As an EHS intern, you will gain hands-on experience working on meaningful projects, network with teammates across the organization, and learn what it is like to promote safety and sustainability in the industry. The EHS – Environmental intern focuses on designing solutions to mitigate environmental hazards in the workplace and broader community. An EHS intern position applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and must be able to explain facts, policies, and practices related to the job area.

ResponsibilitiesEHS - Environmental Interns typically:Work on problems of limited scope and contribute on projects or processes while receiving detailed instructions from higher-level professionalsAssist with employee compliance training and ensuring employee completion of all required courses; auditing compliance with programs & procedures, investigating complaints and verifying that deficiencies are correctedSupport the designing and administering of environmental safety and pollution prevention programs in accordance with organization, regulatory, and labor union requirements/agreementReview and analyze environmental documentation issued by regulatory agencies to determine financial, industrial, public, and environmental impactSupport environmental engineering studies and preparation of environmental impact reports for new construction projects, plant processes, and permitsYou will also get to:Apply interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with fellow teammates and achieve common goalsWork in a hands-on environment with cross-functional teamsUtilize project management skills to develop, manage, and control scope, schedule, and costMaintain relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organizationWe are looking for students who:Are highly motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervisionHave a people-centric focus with the ability to collaborate with all teammates across the organizationExhibit strong initiative, work ethic, and levels of enthusiasmDemonstrate technical aptitude in major of studyPractice excellent communication and presentation skills
To thrive in this role, you need…To be pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or another applicable major and actively enrolled in an accredited university the semester prior to your start dateTo be sophomore-senior level standing with a GPA of at least 3.0To be available to work 40 hours weekly in a 12-week internship assignmentNo other work experience is required. We will teach you everything you need to know!
