**Job Posting End Date** 10-04-2024 Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end date **Job Summary** Responsible for the direct supervision of personnel, planning, budgeting, coordinating, and controlling the plant's environmental and laboratory organization. Manage the plant laboratory personnel in performing environmental compliance and support activities and projects. Supervise the analysis of water chemistry, coal sample collection and analysis, wastewater analysis, chemicals and other material in connection with power plant operation and maintenance. Responsible for providing technical and manpower support to ensure plant compliance with water chemistry, environmental, health and safety regulations. **Job Description** ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1.) Plan daily tasks and pre-job brief laboratory technicians of duties for each day. Oversight of laboratory will be conducted through the implementation front-line supervision core values. 2.) Lead company and plant efforts to shape the safety, environmental and business culture of the facility. 3.) Plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control plant laboratory and environmental activities to maximize the safe, efficient and economical generation of electrical power. 4.) Support the System Safety Process. Develop, maintain and enforce safe working conditions by providing proper and adequate tools, equipment, protective clothing and devices. Establish and enforce safe work behaviors. Participate in the setting of safety goals for an accident-free work environment. Communicate to employees the importance of a safe work environment on a daily basis. Investigate report and track incidents/accidents including root cause analysis and corrective action taken. Report findings to management and then communicate findings to employees. 5.) Manage the laboratory and environmental systems and equipment planning in relation to plant outages including developing workflow charts and critical paths, analyzing material needs and overseeing the writing of requisitions for materials and equipment. 6.) Supervise the collection and evaluation of unit water samples data. 7.) Administer plant laboratory and environmental programs and activities including preparation, review, revision, and recommendation of guidelines & procedures. 8.) Lead the operation of plant water treatment equipment. 9.) Establish and direct plant cycle water chemistry and chemical treatment processes while maintaining world class water chemistry standards. 10.) Perform other duties as requested. 11) Responsible for maintaining all training records for laboratory technicians. 12) Attend and participate in meetings and unit walkdowns as required. 13) Provide dependable on call support during night and weekend times with the ability to call out lab technicians when needed. 14) Report to and work with Energy Production Supervisor Sr to prioritize short- and long-term plans including O&M and Capital budget adherence, outage work planning, system health reports, and personnel decisions. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education requirements are listed below: Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, chemistry, industrial hygiene, or related field of study. Work Experience requirement listed below: Ten (10) years' experience in a plant laboratory and environmental setting or related field working in the water chemistry, air, water, and waste industry inclusive of two (2) years' in a leadership role. Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: May be required to obtain and hold state laboratory and environmental licenses/certifications. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Physical demand requires daily unit and system walkdowns. Could be heavier during unit startups or shutdowns. Exposure to weather including hot and cold temperatures.
