Based in Durban (must live in Durban or have own accommodation)
BSc or B-Tech in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or a related field. Professional Registration: Registered as a Professional Natural Scientist (Pr. Sci. Nat) with SACNASP. Minimum 10 years of experience in civil construction projects, particularly infrastructure development. Experience with NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contracts. Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements. Expertise in environmental risk assessment and mitigation strategies. Successful implementation of the EMP. Timely submission of environmental compliance reports. Positive feedback from stakeholders regarding environmental practices. Environmental Compliance and Policy Implementation Develop and maintain a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan (EMP) specific to the project. Ensure strict adherence to South African environmental regulations, including NEMA and related standards. Oversee waste management, water use, and pollution control measures.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation
Conduct environmental risk assessments and identify potential project impacts. Implement mitigation strategies to reduce environmental risks during construction.
Monitoring and Reporting
Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections to monitor compliance. Prepare detailed environmental compliance reports for submission to regulatory authorities.
Training and Awareness
Train site personnel on environmental best practices and sustainability principles. Organize workshops to promote environmental awareness.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with regulatory authorities, community stakeholders, and project teams to address environmental concerns.
