Discover a workplace where your talents thrive, and your contributions make a lasting difference. **Job Description:** We are seeking an  **Environmental** **Monitor** for several utility-scale solar projects . A successful candidate will manage general site environmental compliance, siting permit requirements, and Chapter XI, Title 16 of NYCRR Part1100. This position is onsite and must be local to the following counties: **L** **ivingston** **,** **Cortland, or Allegany** **, NY** . Join a dynamic team working on a variety of challenging national environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance projects. We are looking for a candidate with a strong work ethic, excellent client service skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.  **Responsibilities:** + Identify and raise concerns regarding the implementation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control practices + Efficiently prepare and submit various inspection reports to the supervisor + Observing and documenting state and federal environmental regulatory requirements on an active construction site + Attending pre-construction meetings and other site meetings as may bedetermined by NYSDPS staff + Grassland Bird Monitoring as required in occupied habitat to search for NYS Threatened or Endangered Bird Species occurrence based on the species’ seasonal windows for presence + Recording all observations of NYS Threatened or Endangered Species, including nests or dead or injured NYS Threatened or Endangered Bird Species, or implementing the Environmental Monitoring Plan + Presentation of Environmental Awareness training to new hires and visitors on the project, Effectively and proactively communicating with internal and external parties. + Candidates must be willing to work more than 40 hours per week, including weekends. Time-and-one-half compensation for all hours worked more than 40 hours per week. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or Geology is preferred, or a related field (e.g., construction, civil development) + 0-5 years of experience with environmental compliance and permitting (air, water, solid waste), inspections, and monitoring in industrial settings, utility-scale power is preferred + NY Erosion and Sediment Control Certificate Program (NYSESCCP) or equivalent is preferred + Understanding of normal agriculture practices (such as cultivation, crop rotation, nutrient management, drainage (subsurface and/or surface), chemical application, agricultural equipment operation, fencing, soils, plant identification, etc.) and being able to identify how the project may affect the site and the applicable agricultural practices is preferred. + NYSDEC Grassland Bird Monitoring experience is a plus + Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Teams + Understanding of regulatory language and technical writing + Ability to write effective daily reports  + Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills + Willingness to travel to projects + Must possess a valid driver's license **Benefits:** + Flexible Work Environment  + Paid Parental Leave  + Medical  + Dental  + Vision  + Life and AD&D Insurance  + Short-Term and Long-Term Disability  + 401(k) with Company Match  + Paid Time Off + Holidays  _Verdantas strives to develop new ways to increase diversity awareness within our organization. Actual salary is based on the circumstances of each position and candidate, such as geographic location, skills, and certifications. We recognize and reward exceptional performance, striving to ensure fair compensation across all roles and departments within the company.
