Our services range from power distribution, design, and generation to facilities, visualization, and much more. **Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities** POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specializes in air, water, waste, environmental planning, ecological, and cultural resources throughout our 50+ offices across North America. We are seeking an Environmental Planning Intern in our Richmond, VA office to support our Environmental Project Management/Planning Department. The selected candidate would join a team of more than 300 environmental professionals across the U.S. The role of this position includes supporting routing and siting studies for electric transmission and renewable energy projects. The Environmental Planning Intern is a unique opportunity to gain experience with environmental constraints analysis, data collection, stakeholder meetings, and general project management tasks. This temporary position for 8 to 12 weeks is intended to provide insights into a career as an environmental consultant. The position also allows for exposure and introduction to other related resources such as permitting, site assessment, and public outreach. In addition to working under the guidance of experienced team members, the selected intern will also participate in sessions designed to develop your skills and provide networking opportunities. Those sessions include: + Professional Development sessions focused on resume writing, interview tips, LinkedIn profile building, and more. + Early Talent Speaker Series where leaders speak to interns about their role, vision for the company, and career path, offer career advice, and a Q&A session. + Fun Friday activities where interns company-wide join to network and have some fun while doing it. **Required Education/Experience** + Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Masters in Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban or Regional Planning, Geography, Environmental Science or Management, Biology, or other related fields. + Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc). + Interest or experience with Google Earth, ArcGIS, digital SLR cameras, and GPS equipment is a plus. + Interest or ability to do aerial imagery interpretation and understand engineering drawings and topographical maps. + Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship **Desired Education/Experience** + Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. + Possess good writing skills. + Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment.
