Environmental Project Manager

Clover Leaf is seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager to join our team. This position involves work with a Department of Energy client in Los Alamos, NM. We are looking for a candidate with strong leadership abilities who can effectively manage and coordinate environmental projects, working both independently and as part of a team. This position REQUIRES eligibility to obtain and maintain government clearance. There is also the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule.

Job Description:

The Environmental Project Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing assigned environmental projects. The role requires providing advanced leadership and direction to project teams to ensure project objectives are met, including performance against budget and overall schedule progress. Key duties include identifying deviations from the project plan, implementing corrective actions, and determining resource needs for key project roles. The Environmental Project Manager also provides input on policy processes and project development while ensuring the success of multiple complex projects.

The position demands significant creativity and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues by applying professional expertise and understanding of laboratory objectives. The candidate is expected to contribute to the development of new theories, methods, and project management practices, often working independently and providing oversight to other personnel. Decisions in this role will have a critical impact on achieving organizational objectives and managing substantial resources.

Key Responsibilities: Plan, organize, coordinate, and manage the activities of assigned environmental projects. Provide leadership and direction to project teams, ensuring project objectives are met in terms of budget and schedule. Identify deviations from the project plan and implement corrective actions. Assess resource needs for key project roles and ensure proper allocation. Provide input on project policies, development, and procedures. Use creativity and in-depth analysis to develop resolutions to complex problems in the environmental project space. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of complex, multi-functional projects. Apply advanced project management principles, concepts, and techniques to environmental projects. Provide detailed instructions on new projects and ensure the project team’s work meets accuracy and quality standards. Review work for accuracy, sound judgment, and adequacy; take corrective actions when necessary. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., project management, engineering, or a relevant scientific discipline) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of eight years of experience in two or more of the following areas: project management, engineering, or related scientific discipline. At least two years of experience performing at the Project Manager level. Post-graduate coursework in a related field is desirable but not required. Advanced-level experience with project management principles, techniques, and concepts as applied to environmental projects. Proven ability to manage, coordinate, and administer complex, multi-functional projects or multiple small projects. Excellent analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues creatively and effectively. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders. Familiarity with laboratory policies and procedures, with the ability to apply them to resolve various project issues.
