We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Planner to support our environmental planning and permitting efforts for electric transmission line construction across the western United States. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance, coordinating with various agencies, and contributing to the success of our projects. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a team of professionals dedicated to critical infrastructure development, environmental compliance, and business development. Responsibilities Secure utility crossing permits (e.g., DOT, railroad, canal, transmission/distribution line, fiber) for right-of-way crossings or encroachments. Liaise with federal, state, and local agencies, utility companies, and stakeholders to ensure compliance and project alignment. Draft and review environmental compliance documents such as Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, and dust control plans. Participate in meetings with construction personnel, project management, and clients to ensure project goals are met. Conduct spatial analysis and mapping using GIS software (ESRI, Google Earth) to support environmental assessments. Stay current with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and apply this knowledge to project planning and execution. Perform land use and natural resource assessments, collect field data, and support due diligence activities. Author technical reports for Phase I, II, NEPA/CEQA, and other environmental documentation. Adhere to company environmental policies and procedures, ensuring quality standards are maintained on all projects. Perform other related tasks as assigned to support project completion. Qualifications Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, government agencies, and team members. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Expertise in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, GIS software, and mobile data collection tools. Comfortable working in office and field settings, including challenging terrain and adverse environmental conditions. Willingness to travel out-of-state, often on short notice, and work flexible hours as needed. Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, with a strong sense of reliability and punctuality. Physical Requirements: Lifting: Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs. Field Work: Capable of traversing challenging terrain and working long hours in varying environmental conditions. Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Geography, GIS, Natural Resources, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of related work experience. Must be a U.S. citizen with a valid driver’s license. Preferred Experience: Knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution line construction activities. Planning and field experience on construction projects. Proficiency with ESRI GIS Software (Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps) and Google Earth. FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot certification. Salary Range: $70,000 - $95,000
