**Job Overview:**
APTIM is seeking an **Environmental Science Intern** to support stormwater compliance activities across client's regional network of logistical facilities located in Florida. This position requires the ability to conduct field work, desktop analysis and reporting, occasional overnight travel, and application of knowledge and skills to ensure compliance with state and federal stormwater regulations.
Duties may include but is not limited to: performing routine inspections, visual assessment, and sampling at client facilities, completion of associated reporting at required frequencies, collection and documentation of samples for laboratory analysis, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, environmental permitting, and ability to gain working knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental regulations.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Collaborate with Project leadership to plan, organize and schedule field activities within required frequencies and timeframes including adherence to required communication with client to obtain approval for site access.
+ Travel to and from each site utilizing a personal vehicle and interfacing with client personnel at a facility level.
+ Maintain flexible working hours to accommodate stormwater sampling requirements based on qualifying rain events.
+ Conduct thorough field inspections and assessments through evaluation of site conditions to determine compliance with regulatory requirements, identify and report non-compliance issues identified in the field, and make recommendations toward corrective actions.
+ Manage schedule to meet deadlines set by others and ensure delivery of quality work products.
+ Prepare and complete detailed and accurate reports for review by Project leadership within required timeframes.
+ Responsible for timely and accurate collection of field samples including preparing and preserving samples, completing chain of custody forms, and assuring on-time delivery to the analytical laboratory.
+ Executes field work, maintains project schedule and budgetary goals, and supervises contractors.
+ Conducts work independently or as part of a project team and can adjust to rapidly changing site conditions or client requirements.
+ Adheres to established health and safety policies and procedures and executes work in a safe and conscientious manner.
+ Conducts Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Site Investigations in accordance with ASTM Standards and client requirements.
+ Supports environmental permitting and permit compliance projects.
+ Drafts technical documents for regulatory agencies and private clients.
+ Understands technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports, and ensures conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures.
+ Manages own schedule and balances multiple priorities to meet project targets and deadlines.
+ Utilizes best practices and knowledge of internal and external business systems to improve products or services as a collaborative member of the APTIM team.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or other similar degree.
+ 0-1+ years of experience participating in various scopes associated with environmental site assessment and technical report preparation.
+ Must have a valid Driver's License.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Ability to travel as needed with occasional overnight stays.
+ Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, scientific computer programs
