**Job Overview** Our **Coastal Scientist jobs** are your opportunity to help monitor and restore coastal Louisiana wetlands and estuaries. Each day, you will work on ecological monitoring projects which collect water quality and environmental data. This position is responsible for coordinating with multiple field offices across coastal Louisiana to transfer water samples to Baton Rouge, process all samples in a laboratory setting, conduct field sampling, and assist in data analysis. You should be a self-motivated, team-focused individual with a BS degree in environmental science; have 0-3 years of experience performing lab work and environmental field data collection, preferably as a biologist, wetland ecologist, or water quality specialist; and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each Coastal Scientist job. **Responsibilities:** + Coordinate sampling events and provide sample transportation from field offices across coastal Louisiana to the lab in Baton Rouge under tight timelines. + Process all water quality samples in a laboratory setting following strict protocols and methods. + Conduct water quality sampling in coastal Louisiana with field teams + Conduct water quality sampling in coastal Louisiana, process samples in a laboratory setting, and coordinate activities with subcontractors + Collect scientific data including hydrologic (using continuous recorders), wetland surface elevation and accretion (via RSET/feldspar techniques), and wetland vegetation composition and cover data + Work in an effective team environment, learning and taking instruction from mid and senior staff + Work on coastal restoration projects requiring heavy physical exertion in a variety of difficult field conditions + Share work experiences in a positive work environment where talents are valued + Contribute to a company dedicated to sustainable development practices **Basic Qualifications** : + BS or MS degree in natural sciences from a US accredited college or university. + Experience with laboratory processing of water quality samples is highly desired. + Candidate should be familiar with coastal systems. + Louisiana experience is preferred. + MUST have a valid driver's license, good driving record and ability to travel. + MUST be comfortable working in all types of boats. + Experience with Word, Excel, and Outlook. + Commitment to facilitating a safe working environment. + Safety experience required. + Must be capable of heavy physical exertion in a variety of difficult field conditions.
