ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our growing Site Investigation & Remediation practice. The position will be based in our Winooski, VT office. This hire will develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs, have excellent communication skills, be comfortable working in the office and field and enjoy mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programsProvide hands-on support during field exploration and testing Interpret and effectively communicate investigation findingsLeverage technology to support data management and visualization Manage and perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site AssessmentsDesign remediation systems and develop corrective action plans Write technical reports, correspondence, notes, and memoranda Mentors and may supervise junior team membersOrganizes work schedules and delegates tasks Conducts quality assurance reviews of project deliverables Attends meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders in support of project

Skills and Attributes

Work in field and office settingsEffectively communicate complex topics with colleagues and clientsRecognize and manage business riskProblem solve and work independentlyFamiliarity with contaminant transport preferred for site investigation & remediation practiceKnowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including EPA (TSCA), VT Department of Health, and DEC (IRule)Team-oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkersSelf-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented The ability to lead a small team and complete multiple projects simultaneously Fundamental knowledge of building construction, materials, and environmental processes

Qualifications

B.S./B.A. in a Natural Science related field, Master’s Degree preferred 3-5 years of environmental consulting experience requiredOSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications requiredVT brownfield site investigation and remediation experience preferredWorking experience with hazardous building materials, building systems, and HVAC preferredValid driver's license
