VHB’s Site Investigation & Remediation team is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Geologist to join our Watertown, Massachusetts office. Responsibilities
Collect Field Data and Manage/Interpret Data (soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, indoor air, soil gas)Conduct Site Investigations including ASTM Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments while Leveraging Technology to Support Data Management and VisualizationConduct and Document Research at State and Municipal AgenciesConduct Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Inspections and prepare SPCC PlansProvide Field Support including Construction Observations and Documentation of Remediation ProjectsWrite Technical Reports, Correspondence, Notes and MemorandaSkills & Abilities
Ability to work in office and field settings (this position requires traveling within Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and nearby states to collect data)Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsMotivated with abilities to problem solve and work independentlyDocuments work in a detailed manner and keeps data and other information organizedWorking knowledge of MassDEP Massachusetts Contingency Plan regulations and guidance, and NHDES Regulations, prior experience with SPCC and SWPPP inspections a plusProficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and EQuIS or other laboratory data management software a plusRequirements
BS in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science/Geoscience, or Environmental Engineering (MS preferred)1-3 years of professional environmental/remediation consulting experienceValid drivers license requiredIndividuals holding active OSHA 10-Hour Construction and 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training certificates preferred. These certifications are required to conduct field work.***Cover letters are highly desired***
