UMIAQ Environmental is hiring an Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Chemist to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in managing impactful projects. You will be part of a team for environmental projects from inception to completion, ensuring technical and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience in environmental site assessments, sample collection and analysis, regulatory compliance, and project management. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively in both field and office settings.
UMIAQ Environmental, LLC (UMIAQ Environmental) is a subsidiary of UIC Commercial Services, a division of Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation. UMIAQ Environmental provides a comprehensive suite of environmental consulting services, which include documentation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, construction and access permitting, environmental site assessments, stakeholder engagement, sampling and remediation of contaminated sites, management of hazardous waste, wetlands monitoring, and more. ResponsibilitiesSpecific responsibilities are as follows:
Conduct environmental site assessments (Phase I and Phase II) and remediation projects.Perform soil, water, and other media sampling (air, waste, etc)., and interpret analytical results.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.Prepare technical reports, work plans, and regulatory submittals.Manage and analyze environmental data using GIS, database systems, or related software.Oversee subcontractors and field operations to ensure project completion and adherence to safety protocols.Support permitting processes and environmental impact assessments.Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to develop environmental solutions.Participate in business development efforts, including proposal writing and client engagement.Maintain knowledge of industry trends, emerging regulations, and best practices.Travel and year-round field work, with working hours more than 40 per week and weekends as needed. QualificationsRequired Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geology, or a related field.3+ years of experience in environmental consulting, site assessment, or remediation preferred.Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, and CAA.Experience with analytical methods, laboratory procedures, and data interpretation.Proficiency in GIS, database management, and/or environmental modeling is a plus.Strong technical writing and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in both field and office environments.Willingness to travel to project sites as required.Meet the requirements of an Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Qualified Environmental Professional, as defined by 18 Alaska Administrative Code 75.333.Preferred Experience and Training:
