Your Opportunity

Stantec is currently seeking an entry to mid-level Environmental Planner or Environmental Scientist to provide technical support on a variety of ecosystem restoration projects for Stantec. This position will be part of Stantec’s Environmental Services team that provides the full range of expertise needed to address a variety of stream and wetland permitting and approval requirements for land development projects. Our staff members have established excellent working relationships with regulatory agencies throughout the mid-Atlantic, and our regulatory knowledge and scientific expertise allow us to help our clients develop the most effective approach to securing regulatory approvals and project delivery.  Project workload will primarily occur in Virginia with other opportunities throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region and East Coast.

Your Key Responsibilities

Assist Project Managers (PM) in the management of various environmental projects Help draft reports and other correspondence documents Track the processing of incoming and outgoing project documents Complete field data collection for stream and wetland related work (USM, PFD, etc...) Prepare technical reports and provide assistance with client and regulatory agency deliverables Perform construction and permit compliance inspections (ESC/SWM) Communicate and collaborate with other Environmental and Regulatory Specialists Provide technical and regulatory support for development projects in both the pre-project permitting stage and post-approval stage Conduct database searches related to Threatened and Endangered Species, Natural Heritage and Section 106 Cultural Resources Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work Participate in team and independent-based work

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Experience with qualitative and quantitative stream and wetland assessments Strong technical writing skills, effective communication, attention to detail and organizational skills Experience with VPDES/stormwater permitting, technical reports, and compliance preferred Familiarity with federal and state regulations and permitting requirements as they pertain to wetlands, natural resources, cultural resources and land disturbance Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel Ability to independently manage time Demonstrated team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative DEQ ESC/SWM Inspector Certifications preferred, but not required Possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field 3-5 years of experience preferred
