Position Summary:
Supervise the work activities of assigned cleaning personnel to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions in the Hospitals. Coordinate daily cleaning and/or project activities of the Environmental Services department with those of other hospital departments. Responsible for the safe and efficient performance of work by assigned employees. Monitor the timely completion of discharge cleaning activities to improve patient placement with Bed Management. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed responsibilities:
* CLEANING SUPERVISION - Ensure proper cleaning techniques and/or disinfecting methods are used and established cleaning standards are maintained by staff; develop staff training or action plans to improve performance
* EVALUATION - Evaluate the job performance of staff members ensuring timely and complete evaluations including satisfaction of required competencies
* QUALITY - Document monthly quality rounds with key users/managers in assigned areas; develop action plans correcting deficiencies; maintain efficient communication between all shifts and departments ensuring smooth operation and continuity of work
* INSPECTION - Inspect and evaluate physical conditions of assigned areas regularly; monitor progress and observe work of cleaning staff to ensure instructions are followed, projects are completed, deficiencies are corrected and safety rules are observed
* BED MANAGEMENT - Plan and monitor all discharge activities and/or resources to achieve or improve standard bed turnover times; coordinate Environmental Services activities and/or resources with Bed Management to assist with patient placement
* EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Oversee the inventory, control and security of cleaning equipment and supplies; distribute equipment and carts ensuring safe functioning and good repair
* SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives

1/2 year (6 months) housekeeping experience
Nonessential:
1/2 year (6 months) supervisory 1/2 year (6 months) housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting
