There are no direct reports with this position.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Under limited supervision, the Environmental Services Floor Foreperson maintains environmental and infection control standards within established policies and procedures of a healthcare facility. Employees in this job class coordinate staff in a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the facility and distribute and track clean Microfiber to user departments and maintain stock levels on nursing floors. This job class requires the ability to follow standard hospital housekeeping practices and procedures and the ability to comply with regulatory requirements in a healthcare facility.

 

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. *Coordinates, directs, and monitors assigned EVS Technicians to perform environmental services with emphasis on Infection Control.

2. *Maintains professional relationship with site Point of Contact (POCs),such as unit Custody Officer(s) and medical staff, assuring services are being performed in accordance with contract, and resolving any problems with services.

3. *Schedules and prioritizes tasks, and ensures adherence to procedures, regulations and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.

4. *Attends regularly scheduled staff, leadership, committee, and offsite meetings. Prepares agendas, rosters, and presentation materials for various meetings.

5. *Trains and observes current and new EVS staff ensuring proper use of procedures, processes, equipment, and supplies.

6. *Works alongside EVS Technicians toward fulfillment of contractual responsibilities.

7. *Ensures all required paperwork in somplete, accurate, and signed.

8. *Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•Six (6) months to one year of experience in custodial services and/or building maintenance, including lead responsibilities.

•Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or physical challenges, preferred;

•Knowledge of Cal OSHA and OSHA occupational safety regulations;

•Knowledge of departmental operations and procedures, and organizational policies;

•Knowledge of specialized departmental custodial services equipment.

•Computer literacy including skill to operate word processing, spreadsheet, Internet, and presentation software applications;

•Ability to train employees in proper departmental practices and procedures, including safety and proper use of tools and equipment.

•Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and to present information and respond to questions from clients, customers and others;

•Human relations skills to build effective working relationships with staff, customers, and others;

•Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation;

•Mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

•Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities;

•Demonstrated leadership, organizational, reasoning, and analytical skills.

This position requires the ability to have and maintain sufficient strength, agility and endurance to perform during stressful (physical, mental, and emotional) situations encountered on the job without compromising the employee’s health and well-being or that of their co-workers or inmates.

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:

• Maneuvering in and around the worksite

• Standing and walking

• Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping

• Lifting boxes or equipment weighing up to 35 pounds, and up to 50 pounds occasionally

• Pushing or pulling objects such as vacuums, carts, mops, etc.

• May be required to push/pull equipment weighing up to 70 pounds

• Grasping both small & large objects

• Climbing ladders and/or step stools

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a prison healthcare facility with specialized needs for security and environmental control. Employees may be required to work confined space, and in aseptic areas with exposure to dirt, dust, odors, toxic chemicals, and infectious disease; and will work in high security areas with protocols. Employees may also be exposed to, depending on the weather, elements such as wind, rain, cold, and heat. Employees may be required to work in excess of 8 hours in a day and/or 40 hours per week.
