The anticipated salary range for this role is between $134,000.00 and $196,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Business Intelligence & Strategic Data department Within SMBC Americas Division (AD) Technology / Corporate Systems Technology, is building a new Agile Product team to support the development of an IT ecosystem in support of the Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Sustainability business. The primary goal is to create a streamlined AD ESG Sustainability data platform to be used across the business and functional areas (1st and 2nd lines of defense) to create an automated and standardized checklist application to support evaluation of deals against sustainability policies and procedures. The creation of the new AD ESG Sustainability Data Platform will provide the following business benefits:

Create a single user interface for the business to input any ESG data required for customer checklists used to measure against AD ESG thresholds for sustainability targets Implement a data repository that will serve as a single source-of-truth for AD ESG Sustainability data with timely data feeds to Head Office – Tokyo, as required Reduce impact to business through a holistic approach  Provide timely access to data to support real-time decision-making Ensure data governance and quality  Abide by a timely system development & deployment schedule  Ensure IT system interoperability to Head Office – Tokyo technologies and flexibility to accommodate future checklist and system requirements  Enable US regulatory readiness


The Vice President, Team Lead of AD ESG Sustainability Technology is an experienced role that will lead the technical team and oversee Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) activities using Agile methodology to develop and support the SMBC AD ESG Data Platform but also to partner with accountable business and other technology parties during all parts of execution. Additionally, the candidate should have at least peripheral knowledge of key banking & financial services business and terms. In-depth knowledge of ESG Governance, Compliance and Front Office Operations is considered a plus.

Role Objectives Lead the development team in the design, development, and implementation of Microsoft Power Platform solution that meet client requirements and objectives for the AD ESG Data Platform.  Collaborate closely with clients to understand their business needs and translate them into actionable technical solutions using Microsoft Power Platform.  Provide technical guidance and expertise to project teams, ensuring high-quality delivery and adherence to best practices.  Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in Microsoft Power Platform technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance client outcomes.  Mentor and coach team members to foster their professional growth and development within the Microsoft Power Platform space.  Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and internal teams, to drive successful project outcomes and client satisfaction.  Contribute to thought leadership initiatives by sharing insights, experiences, and best practices related to Microsoft Power Platform through internal and external channels.  Qualifications and Skills

•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
•    10+ years of Software Development experience with 3+ years in leading and delivering Microsoft Power Platform solutions, with a focus on Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI. 
•    Proven track record of successfully leading teams in the design and delivery of complex technical solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem. 
•    Strong understanding of business processes and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions using Microsoft Power Platform. 
•    Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with key partners and stakeholders at all levels and across functions. 
•    Relevant certifications in Microsoft Power Platform (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate, Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert) are highly desirable. 
•    Experience with SQL databases and programming.
•    Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is a plus.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
•    Strong process mapping skills required; ability to gather and analyze data, organize findings, build presentations.
•    Experience working within an Agile Scrum team using JIRA.
•    Effective analytical skills and proactive approach to problem-solving with limited supervision.
•    Manage and own escalations through to resolution including root cause analysis, identify fix and preventative measures.
•    Assertive and self-confident to challenge status quo and propose diverse ideas within existing processes and business practices.
•    Ability to manage competing priorities and aggressive deadlines while remaining focused on critical detail.
•    Self-motivated, positive, creative, innovative thinker, customer-oriented, resourceful, flexible.
•    Highly organized multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize and manage time strategically.
