Environmental Specialist
Airswift has been tasked by one of our major Oil and Gas clients to seek an Environmental Specialist to work on an initial 1-year contract in Downtown Houston – with the possibility for extension!

Work schedule: 5/40 - hybrid

Purpose:
Provide assistance to ensure that environmental issues and Environmental and Energy Management Systems are being managed in compliance with the company’s HSE policy/MSG and applicable legislation/regulatory requirements, recommending and implementing corrective actions as necessary. This position is a designated HSE-Sensitive Role.

Detailed Responsibility: Preparation and maintenance of Environmental procedures on the Integrated Management System. Assist in compliance, reporting, inspections and relationships with environmental agencies. Collection, analysis, entry and reporting of HSE metrics and KPIs, such as greenhouse gas (GHG), waste, water, and spill data into internal reporting program. Assist in achieving environmental MBOs, such as biodiversity, greenhouse gas, fugitive emissions and energy efficiency. Leads Energy Efficiency Committee initiatives and facilitates committee meetings. Responsible for energy efficiency project assessments, identification and tracking of energy efficiency projects, and energy efficiency 4-Year planning, to support Technical Services. Leads development and communication of energy efficiency KPIs. Conducts team workshops to collaborate in energy efficiency project development. Facilitates and leads Energy Efficiency and CO? committee meetings, as requested by CO? Evaluator to support Technical Services. Serve as focal point for GOM potable water program. Serve as focal point for GOM waste disposal issues, including hazardous, nonhazardous, NORM and universal waste. Responsible for waste documentation tracking into internal program. Documentation includes waste manifest, waste profiling, waste laboratory analysis, etc. Provide environmental review for GOM new chemical evaluation process. Assist in the timely preparation and submission of environmental permit applications and environmental performance/monitoring reports to relevant authorities. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of an ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 Management System. Assist in internal HSE-MS audits and environmental reviews of work sites and project proposals, as required. Participate in corporate Environmental audits of assets and facilities. Responsible for Environmental Aspects and Impacts register review and other applicable risk registers. Coordinate annual fugitive emissions campaigns for GOM assets, as required by headquarters. Participate in daily production operations and/or well operations meetings to ensure environmental compliance for upcoming and ongoing projects. Participate in Environmental subcommittees to the Offshore Operators Committee (OOC) to better understand new developments in environmental legislation. Participate in company emergency response drills, as needed. Required competencies: A degree in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Civil, Mechanical) or in Health, Safety and Environmental Management or Business Management) or equivalent years’ experience in an industry role Minimum of 5 years’ industry or consulting experience with awareness of environmental remediation, engineering, waste disposal, and/or air emissions. Awareness of Environmental management principles and standards. Awareness of waste disposal processes
Preferred competencies: ISO 14001:2015 lead auditor certification ISO 50001:2018 lead auditor certification Knowledge of SharePoint Knowledge of NORM disposal
