This position reports directly to the Manager, EHS Environmental. This position is directly responsible for the day-to-day support of Carlisle’s environmental compliance processes by executing, managing, or supporting other EHS and Operations team members in the completion of required environmental-related reports, plans, and permits across all manufacturing sites within assigned business unit. Standard working hours are 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. This position requires routine travel, around 10-15% annually.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Regular daily tactical communications with Environmental Manager as well as Divisional EHS Managers Provide daily support to all manufacturing facilities, within assigned business unit, to ensure all required compliance reporting (such as stormwater and air emission reporting) is executed accurately and on time Develop and implement site-specific environmental compliance assurance systems Execute air permit emission calculations and submissions Manage new source air permitting Execute formal multi-media environmental aspect evaluations for new processes and equipment Manage environmental consultants On-board and mentor site and Divisional associates on site-specific environmental compliance requirements Train new users on Carlisle electronic environmental tools Ensure all new and existing environmental aspects are accurately entered and maintained into all on-line environmental tools Ensure accurate notifications are executed though on-line environmental compliance tools Compile, analyze and prepare environmental data dashboarding for Operations Be the subject matter expert for all environmental tools for Carlisle across all affected departments such as EHS, COS, Operations and Sustainability Partner with all levels of Leadership to produce compliance status reports Maintain waste profiles and be the main point of contact for business wide waste brokers Lead environmental-related event investigations Support 14001 certification activities across assigned business unit Support other Carlisle departments such as the Sustainability Team Assist sites in their preparation of required site-specific environmental plans such as: stormwater, spill, and waste minimization Participate in industry and professional interest groups to stay current on trends, issues, and technological innovation Act as an Divisional environmental compliance expert Lead in-depth multi-media environmental compliance audits Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Organizational and time management skills. Ability to evaluate process system performance and identify necessary modifications and improvements. Ability to manage relationships with various vendors (such as waste disposal vendors and stack testing vendors) as well as professional third-party environmental consultantsKnowledge of environmental regulations across all media types including federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Ability to work independently working to execute multiple time-sensitive reports at one time Knowledge of air quality permitting requirements. Advanced knowledge of requirements and procedures for obtaining permits for industrial facilities. Knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material management requirements. Understanding of applied physical, thermodynamic, and chemistry fundamental Knowledge of methods and equipment associated with general production processes.
Education and Experience:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science or related technical field of study 0-2 years of experience in environmental compliance management, preferably in a manufacturing facility Preferred: Higher level degree in engineering, environmental science or related technical field of study. Experience in major source air permitting (Title V) Professional certifications (CIH, CSP)
Working Conditions:
Individual will operate primarily in an office setting, with a preferred hybrid schedule (ability to work from a home part of the week). This role has the flexibility to be considered fully remote, with more travel requirements. This would be subject to additional approval. Individual will occasionally be in a plant environment where it may be dirt, dusty, and hotter/colder than office settings. Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
