ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST (LEVEL 1-3)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain environmental compliance with all applicable regulations including but not limited to EPA, RCRA, TCEQ, and DOT Perform tasks related to RCRA regulatory hazardous waste handling, storage and disposal requirements Monitor and manage levels of hazardous waste at each department’s satellite accumulation area Perform waste determinations of new waste streams Ensure all waste is properly labeled Ensure all waste is properly stored, according to its classification Accurately record and maintain 90-day hazardous waste inventory logs Perform all required hazardous waste and hazardous material storage area inspections Schedule, prepare and assist in the execution of waste shipments in partnership with waste disposal contractor Consolidate and lab pack waste when appropriate Perform tasks and inspections related to TCEQ regulatory requirements for SPCC, SWPPP, and EPCRA Work closely with EHS Technicians and EHS Engineers to ensure regulatory compliance in the management of our environmental programs Perform tasks related to spill response and prevention, including clean up and/or the coordination of cleaning activities with a third party Order and maintain adequate spill supplies such as spill pads, empty drums, secondary containment, and other equipment necessary to maintain safe handling and correct disposal of hazardous waste Perform regular inspections such as; hazardous waste accumulation and storage, universal waste storage, emergency eye wash/shower, SPCC, and SWPPPBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate 2+ years of experience implementing and overseeing aspects of hazardous waste compliance Trained in Hazardous Waste ManagementPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Current DOT certification for the shipment of Hazardous Waste Experience in managing hazardous waste storage and satellite accumulation areas Experience with emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water Experience using Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) Demonstrated strong propensity for hands-on work and attention to detail in either academic or career pursuits Ability to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision Ability to work in a construction/industrial environment Ability to communicate well with technicians and engineers Strong organizational and communication skillsADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift and move 30 lbs. unassisted Must be able to travel into fields and culverts for inspections and capturing sampling media Must be able to drive a forklift, all-terrain vehicles, and aerial lifts or vehicles as neededCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
