What You’ll Do: + Implement compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and amendments. Ensure that every Iowa ARNG facility has regulated waste management program that abides by all appropriate federal, state, and DoD regulations. + Sample possible regulated wastes to ensure their proper disposal. Verify and track all regulated waste streams for all Iowa ARNG facilities. + Serve as the point of contact for all Iowa ARNG facilities and regulatory agencies regarding RCRA compliance and regulatory updates. + Manage federal regulated waste disposal contracts to ensure proper and timely disposal of materials. + Work with team to complete regular compliance inspections on Very Small, Small, and Large Quantity Generator facilities, documenting findings and ensuring they are remediated appropriately. + Provide regular training to the Very Small, Small, and Large Quantity Generator facilities to ensure overall subject awareness is understood and implemented. Location and hours: Camp Dodge, 7105 NW 70th Ave Johnston, IA 50131. Flexible schedule – 40 hours a week – some telework. Travel is required-primarily within the state; some out of state travel. Must have a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle. Must be able to pass a background check to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC). Minimum Qualification Requirements Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in a Natural Science and three years of full time professional scientific experience in an environmental program in the areas of water supply, waste water, animal feeding operations, hazardous substances, radiation, sewage treatment, solid waste, geology, history, archeology, flood plain, air pollution, dam safety, or underground storage tanks; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of the required full-time professional work for each 30 semester hours of the required education; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting thirty semester hours of accredited graduate level coursework in a Natural Science, history, or archeology for each year of the required experience to a maximum substitution of two years; OR employees with current continuous experience in the State of Iowa Executive Branch that includes twenty-four months of full-time work as an Environmental Specialist or Environmental Engineer.
