Job Summary
The Marathon Kenai Alaska Refinery has an opening for a Environmental Supervisor. This position will supervise the refinery’s Environmental group in assuring compliance with all environmental rules, regulations and permits. They will ensure the development and implementation of programs that maintain and enhance environmental compliance. Duties also include managing environmental programs ensuring regulatory requirements are incorporated into operating and construction permits, compliance programs, and operational activities. The Environmental Supervisor will also oversee permit acquisitions, process surveillance, air and water quality studies, and environmental recordkeeping and reporting. The available schedules for the position are 9/80 or 5/40 after hours calls are required approximately 5-6 times a year and support of TAR every three years.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide technical leadership for timely and accurate preparation of documents such as agency correspondences, permit applications, emission calculations reports, and audits in accordance with state/federal standards.
+ Develop and maintain refinery’s regulatory compliance strategy. Develops and delivers effective environmental training programs. Actively drives for continuous improvement for all compliance programs.
+ Develop and maintain effective relationships throughout Marathon’s Refining organization and with regulatory agency staff. Interfaces with regulatory agency inspectors, compliance officers, and management.
+ Ensure environmental team engagement through Area Teams and is an active participant on the Asset Management Team (AMT) to ensure environmental concerns are addressed through the budget process and project design and execution.
+ Coordinate with Legal and Corporate teams on issues such as reportable releases, malfunctions, compliance findings, notices to comply or other related actions.
+ Keep abreast of regulatory compliance initiatives, changes or enforcement practices through networking with Corporate teams, industry groups and government agencies.
+ Lead environmental staff. Initiates selection, promotion and corrective actions when appropriate; accountable for fair and uniform application of human resources policies.
+ Provide permitting services and environmental review for Refining and Logistics projects. Ensure that regulatory requirements are met at all project stages. Support refinery departments with negotiation strategies for complex permit conditions with regulatory agencies. Advocate permit conditions consistent with operational needs and regulatory requirements.
Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
+ Must have a Bachelors degree in Science or related EHS field. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date) (Degree must be accredited in US.)
+ Must have at least 7 years of experience as an EHS professional in a refinery, petro-chemical or other related heavy industry.
+ Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
+ Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
+ Must have the following leadership skills: result driven, change management, coaching and developing, team work, leadership, communicating and influencing skills.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.)
+ Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
+ Travel Requirement is 5% or less.

Preferred Qualifications
+ Chemical or Environmental engineering degree is preferred.
+ Supervisory experience is preferred.
+ High level of proficiency in Excel is preferred.
+ Refinery environmental compliance experience is preferred.
